WELCOME TO SYDNEY FINNISH SCHOOL -
Home of Finnish language and culture in Sydney
The Finnish School introduces children and teens (3-18 years of age) to Finnish language and culture. Lessons take place once a week in four different locations: Concord West, Manly Vale and Sutherland Shire in Sydney as well as in Newcastle. Children above the age of 12 are taught via online lessons.
Our curriculum is diverse and interesting, aiming to create an enjoyable learning environment. The emphasis is on development of spoken language, however reading and writing are also practiced. Songs, craft and games are used to assist learning.
Teaching methods are based on developing each child’s language skills individually. Students are divided into small groups based on their age and language skills.
In addition to weekly lessons, students and families get together to celebrate Finnish festivities and to enjoy traditional Finnish foods. Once a year, the school organises a weekend camp filled with fun activities for the whole family.
